Born on August 13, 1949, in Newark, Ohio, Douglas lived a life marked by honorable service and deep commitment to his family and community. He graduated from Lakewood High School in 1967 before answering the call to serve his country. Doug was a proud Vietnam Veteran, having served with distinction in the U.S. Army 557 Engineers until his honorable discharge in 1971. His dedication to his fellow servicemen and veterans extended into his civilian life, where he was an active member of the Hebron American Legion. His leadership was recognized as he served as Past Post Commander for 14 years, contributing tirelessly to honoring those who served.

Following his military service, Doug devoted 40 years to the Telephone Company, retiring after a long and committed career. His steadfast work ethic was a cornerstone of his professional life, reflecting the same values he carried through his personal and community engagements.

Doug was also a devoted member of the Hebron Christian Church, where his faith and fellowship were sources of strength and comfort throughout his life.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Amspaugh; his mother, Emma Jean (Pendleton) Lloyd; his stepfather, Wally Lloyd.

Doug is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Marianne (Johnson) Amspaugh, with whom he shared married on October 23, 1971; their daughter, Krista and her husband, Roger Sprankle of Hebron; and his beloved grandson, Dominic Sprankle who brought him great joy. He is also survived by his brother, Gail Amspaugh, of Bradenton, Florida; and his sisters, Sandi Lloyd of Bradenton, Florida, and Tina Fox of Palmetto, Florida. Additionally, several nieces and nephews survive him, each carrying forward his legacy of kindness and dedication.
