Dorothy "Dottie" Lou Cotterman

A funeral service celebrating the life of Dorothy "Dottie" L. Cotterman, 90, of Heath, Ohio, formerly of Jacksontown, Ohio, will be held at 11:00am on Friday, February 6, 2026, at the Jacksontown United Methodist Church, 9350 Jacksontown Rd., Jacksontown, with Pastor Dave Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairmount Cemetery, Jacksontown, Ohio. The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 5, 2026, from 2:00pm to 6:00pm at the church.

Dorothy passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at The Inn at Chapel Grove, Heath, Ohio. She was born on July 9, 1935, in Granville, Ohio, to the late Ralph and Pauline (Jones) Smith. She graduated in 1953 from Jacksontown High School. She started her working career at American Electric Power. She then worked at the Dawes Arboretum and retired as a cashier for The Lakewood School District. She served in many leadership roles in the Jacksontown United Methodist Church, district, and conference. She was the delegate to annual conference for Jacksontown Church for many years.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Beverly Elaine (Sam) Cox; granddaughter, Cassie (Nathan) Reynolds; great-grandchildren, Oakleigh, Boone, Daisy and Case; brother, Richard Smith, as well as several nieces and nephews. She also adored her four-legged grandchildren, Misty, Bentley, Masha, Millie, Molly, Lily, Ella, Chloe, Abby, Emma and Brock.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Keith Cotterman, who passed away on February 2, 2023. They were married on June 24, 1956. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Sharon Tuthill.

Memorial donations can be made to the Jacksontown United Methodist Church or Hospice of Central Ohio. Envelopes will be available at the church.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at The Inn at Chapel Grove for the last 3 years and Hospice of Central Ohio for the last month for the excellent care that they gave to Dorothy.
