Dorothy Virginia Chapman

Dorothy Virginia Chapman, age 94, passed away on December 11, 2025. She was born on September 8, 1931, in Newton Township, to the late Harry M. and Mary (VanWinkle) Pound. Dorothy graduated from Utica High School in 1949, and married Don M. Chapman in 1950.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Rod (Cathy), Donna (Michael) Paxton, Gary (Oveta), Chris (Buster) Palmer. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and six great-great grandchildren. Also survivingis her brother Gerald Pound, sister Patricia (Richard) Robinson and sister-in-law Beverly Pound Nesbitt, and a special nephew Frank Walker.

She was preceded in death by her husband Don, and two granddaughters, Jeanna Don Paxton Bellville, and Dawn Marion Tinsley, her brothers Ora, Dale, Joe, sisters Ruth Camp, infant sister Debbie, and sister-in-law Bonnie Pound.

Dorothy enjoyed cooking, woodworking, camping, square dancing, and playing games-especially, playing competitive Euchre, which she usually won. She loved her family and enjoyed hosting many family get-togethers such as picnics, wiener roasts, Christmas parties. She and Don also hosted theannual “Duke Memorial” shuffleboard tournament at their home for thirty years.
