Diane Gretchen Noble

Diane Gretchen Noble, 93, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, in Thornville, Ohio. She was born on October 11, 1932, in Columbus, Ohio, to the late Harold and Dorothy Herd and lived the majority of her life in Hebron, OH.

A proud alumna of The Ohio State University, Diane earned her bachelor’s degree in education and devoted nearly three decades of her life to shaping young minds as a kindergarten teacher at Jacksontown Elementary School. Throughout her 29 and a half years in the classroom, she touched the lives of countless children, sharing her love of learning and leaving a lasting impression on generations of students. Her commitment to education extended beyond the classroom through her active involvement in the Ohio Education Association (OEA), the National Education Association (NEA), and the Ohio Retired Teachers Association (ORTA).

Above all, Diane cherished her family and the generations that followed. She is survived by her grandchildren, Carla (Tom) Sage, Troi (Allan) Orth, Morgan (Chad) Reihing, JJ (Heather) Rey, Tabatha Hall, Jayme (Brian) Carbaugh, Vanessa (Joe) Harrison, and Eric Lyon. She was the proud great-grandmother of fourteen and great-great grandmother of one. Diane is also survived by her sister, Suzanne (Harold) Koenig, her daughter-in-law Alice Noble, along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Diane was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Carl Noble; and her children, Harold "Hank" Noble, Roger Noble, Gary “Poncho” Noble, and Vicky (Jeff) Rey and one great grandchild, Christopher Lyon.

A private family graveside service celebrating Diane’s life will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Glen Rest Memorial Estate.
