Dayle Edward Wolford

A funeral service celebrating the life of Dayle Edward Wolford, age 95, of Newark, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 26, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Harley officiating. Burial will take place in Newark Memorial Gardens.

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. on Monday, August 25, at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street in Newark, where the New Home Lodge #338 F& AM of Hanover will observe a Masonic Service at 7:00 p.m.

Dayle was born June 21, 1930 in Frazeysburg, Ohio to the late Frank E. and Mae M. (McGee) Wolford. He passed away on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at Newark Rehabilitation.

A devoted educator, Dayle retired from C-TEC, where he influenced many young lives as a teacher. Following his retirement, Dayle drove bus for the school. A Contractor and Master Carpenter, Dayle built homes in the Marne and Hanover areas and throughout Licking and Franklin Counties. He was instrumental in the rebuilding of Marne United Methodist Church. Dayle was a member of the New Home Lodge #338 F & AM of Hanover for over 50 years and was a Shriner and member of the Licking County Shrine Club. He was also a member of the BIA of Licking County. He proudly served his country in the Ohio National Guard.

He is survived by five children, Jayne Ann (James) Burns, David (Peggy) Wolford, Thomas (Ronda) Wolford, Julie Lee (Michael) Strohacker, and Angela (James) Coots; 15 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara, on January 11, 2001; and by a granddaughter, Jessica Wolford.
