Obituary

David Steven Reed, a beloved son, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully in Newark, Ohio, on Sunday, October 4th, 2026, at the age of 72. Born in Detroit, Michigan, on Sunday, July 11th, 1954, David lived a life filled with passion, adventure, and love.

David's life was deeply rooted in his love for all things automotive. As a skilled auto mechanic, he spent countless hours working on automobiles and motorcycles, always with a particular fondness for Ford Mustangs. His talent and dedication extended beyond the workplace, where he built and raced slot cars, winning numerous local accolades for his craftsmanship and speed.

An avid motorcycle enthusiast, David cherished the freedom of the open road, often participating in spirited rides to Sturgis, a journey he looked forward to.

He is survived by his loving parents, Kenneth D. and Dolores M. (Elmore) Reed of Newark, Ohio; his devoted brother and sister-in-law, Kenny E. and Tiffany Reed; and his treasured cat, Buddy. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Nelline and Steve Radovic, and his paternal grandparents, Ruby and Herman Murray.

David's generous spirit extended to his deep compassion for animals, and he was a proud supporter of the Licking County Humane Society, where donations can be made in his memory to honor his legacy and commitment to animal welfare.

Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service in Newark is honored to care for David and his family during this difficult time.

David's kind spirit, love for adventure, and zest for life will be forever remembered and cherished by all who knew him.

Rest in peace, dear David, knowing you live on in the hearts of your loved ones and the many lives you touched along the way.
