Curtis W. Abbott III, age 83, of Newark, passed away on Friday, October 23, 2026 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center (operated by Hospice of Central Ohio). Curtis was born April 1, 1943 in Newark, Ohio to the late Curtis W. Abbott, Jr. and the late Rena Vileda (Steele) Abbott.

Curtis was a 1961 graduate of Newark High School and served in the United States Navy from 1961-1965 aboard the U.S.S. Capricornus AKA57, U.S.S. Earl B. Hall APD 107, and the U.S.S. Kirwin, APD 90. Over the years he was employed with Rockwell International, Owens Corning Fiberglas for 22 years, Alltel, Allen Refractories, Lowe’s, Gummer Wholesale, Water Works and Industrial Supply, and Contract Lumber. Curtis was a member of Second Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his son, Curtis W. (Margaret Ellen) Abbott IV; grandchildren, Curtis W. Abbott V, Ian Thor Abbott, and Elizabeth Kay (Cory James)Workman; and great-granddaughter, Opal Ellen Workman.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Aaron Anthony Abbott.

Private inurnment will take place at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
