A funeral service, celebrating the life of Christine Elaine Lepsik, age 78, of Thornville, will be held on Saturday, January 17th, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. in the chapel of The Kirkersville home of HOSKINSON Funeral & Cremation Service, 285 East Main St. (US Rt 40) in Kirkersville, with Pastor Walter Bruah as celebrant.Christine died suddenly on Sunday, January 11, 2015, at her home. She was born March 8, 1936, in Gibbon, Nebraska, the daughter of the late Channing and Bernice (Overturf) Mercer. She was a lifelong school teacher, working in Mahoning and Columbiana Counties. In her retirement, she enjoyed her gardening and flower beds, volunteering at Dawes Arboretum and keeping chickens. She was also passionate about Monarch butterflies. She is survived by her loving family: her husband Richard, whom she married on August 25, 1956, her children: Steven (Carol) Lepsik, Marie Peterson, Valerie Gilchrist and Lisa (David) Oyer, along with her grandchildren Camryn Peterson, Kari and Dakota Gilchrist, Rebecca and Stephanie Lepsik and Maxwell and Mary Oyer; brother Stan Mercer, sisters Beth (John)Keiser, Phyllis (Charles)Ritts, Ida (Edward)Krcelic, Barbara Wobser, and sisters-in-law Pat (Gene) Wilson, Sandra (Harvey) Wilson, Jackie (Lou) Gonzalez, Donna (Clay) Lawrence, Sue Kachurek, Sally (Charlie) Palumbo and Terry (John ) Hjerpe; along with many nieces and nephews, and friends. The family will receive friends on Saturday, from 3:00 p.m. until time of the services at 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
