Newark

Cheryl Lynn Taylor, age 55, of Newark, passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2025 at Licking Memorial Hospital. She was born December 22, 1969 in Newark Ohio.

Cheryl was a devoted homemaker whose culinary skills were celebrated by family and friends alike. Her chicken and cheese enchiladas, lasagna, blueberry cheesecake, and monster fingers are some of the dishes that were family favorites at gatherings. Cheryl’s true joy came from time spent with family, particularly her precious grandchildren, whom she adored.

Music, fairy gardens, and the captivating mysteries of the underwater world were favorite past-times, particularly the enthralling documentaries aired by National Geographic. Her zest for life was further exhibited in her enthusiasm for decorating for the holidays, most notably during the Christmas season, transforming her home into a festive haven for her family.

She is survived by three daughters, Chylah Taylor (Troy Boyce), Ciara Mitchell (Joseph Walkup), and Susan Boitnott (Dalas Cantrell); grandchildren, Malachi Saunders, Kaleigh McTighe, Kaydence McTighe, and Carter Cantrell; her mother and step-father, Susan & Les McGuire of Heath; siblings, Tom Baker, Terry Baker, Matt Taylor, Raymond David Taylor, Lori Spence, Julia Reed, Leslie McGuire, Jr., Bonnita Frank and Courtney Burrows; many nieces and nephews; and former husband who remained a good friend, Mike Boitnott.

She was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Oscar Taylor; a brother, Ed Baker; grandmother, Eleanor Smith; aunt, Cynthia Lannan; and uncle, John Gonser, Jr.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of the funeral home.

Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. on Monday, June 2, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home, 179 Granville Street in Newark.
