Charles "Cork" F. Rey Jr.

Charles “Cork” F. Rey Jr, age 78 of Newark passed away after an extended illness on Friday, December 26, 2025, at The Ohio State University Ross Heart Hospital. He was born February 17, 1947, in Newark, Ohio to the late Charles F. and Alma M. (Hoyt) Rey.

Cork retired from Martin Systems with over 40 years of service. He was a member of Newark Moose Lodge #499.

Cork was a devoted Car Guy who loved Rat Rods. He loved spending time with his entire family, especially camping and gambling. Cork was a well-known cook and bragged about teaching Ellen to cook. He was also a practical joker.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sisters, Margaret Dodrill, Peggy Waldeck, and brother, James Mitchell; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Williams and Chris Cline; brothers-in-law, James Myers and Ron Williams

Cork is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Ellen Mae (Myers) Rey; two daughters, Cassie (Jason) Turner, Christy (Bob) Hughes; grandchildren, Tyler (Taylor) Roberts, Taylor (Tiffany) Roberts, Elizabeth Turner, Samuel Turner, Colton Woodward, Caleb (Harmony) Miller, Caden (Nevaeh) Miller, Sarah Hughes, Ryan Hughes; great grandchildren, Tanner, Kynslee, Troy, Trace, Skylar, Waylon and Kash; sister-in-law MaryLou (Homer) Ashcraft, Karen (Bill) Hartshorn, Bev Sheets; sister-in-law, Debbie Myers; brother-in-law, Rick Cline; numerous nieces and nephews.

The family wants to give a special thank you to Ross Heart 6th floor nurse, Kayla and PCA Mo.

Visitation will be held from 11AM – 1 PM, Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home, 179 Granville Street, Newark where funeral services will begin at 1 PM Wednesday. Burial Hanover Cemetery
