Catherine Francis Smith, 4/30/35-9/18/26, of Heath, Ohio, age 91, years passed peacefully at the Selma Markowirz Inpatient Hospice Care Center in Newark, Ohio.

She is survived by her daughter, Beth A Deering; grandchildren, Niles and Cayla Deering, and Jonathan Lippincott; great grandchildren, Creighton, Silas, Laeis, and Luna Deering.

She was preceded in Larissa, by husband, Byron Ward Smith; and parents, Clyde E Dayton, and Sophia A Dayton .

A graveside service will be held at Wilson Cemetery in Newark, Ohio. at a later date.

More than just a lover of history, she was a dedicated guardian of the past. She believed old buildings, historic neighborhoods and forgotten spaces, held the very soul of a community. Historic preservation was not just a hobby, it was a calling. She poured her heart into ensuring that history would not be erased by time. She founded Old Towne West, in Newark, Ohio a historic downtown adjacent neighborhood, known for its tree lined streets, quaint character, and early 20th century architecture.

Catherine was defined by unwavering faith, and a fierce devotion to her Lord and savior. A faithful servant through her entire life, she walked daily in the light of God's love. Finding her ultimate strength, and peace in her relationship with Christ. Her life was a living testament to the fruits of the spirit. Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control. She prayed without ceasing, and trusted completely in God's divine plan. She left a legacy of faith, that will continue to guide her family for generations to come.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Catherine to Hospice of Central Ohio.
