Carolyn Sue Mitchell

Carolyn Sue Mitchell, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 2, 2026, in Newark, Ohio. Born on Saturday, February 26, 1938, in Highwater, Ohio, Carolyn was a devoted homemaker who cherished her family and lived a life full of love and joy.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her loving parents, Oren and Edna Kinney, her cherished husband, James W. Mitchell, Sr., her daughter, Rocki Weese, her infant, son Timmy Winegardner, step-daughter, Peggy Mitchell, and her siblings, Willard, Joey and Bev. She was also reunited with several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law who have gone before her.

Left to cherish her memory are her devoted children: Terry Winegardner, Tom Winegardner, Tobey (Deb) Winegardner, and James (Regina) Mitchell. Carolyn's legacy of love and kindness continues through her numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She will be fondly remembered by her sister, Johnny Dean, and countless nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Carolyn spent her life as a homemaker, nurturing her family with love and care. She found joy in dancing, decorating her home, and engaging in the simple pleasures of life such as flower gardening, coloring, and word search puzzles. Whether she was in the kitchen cooking a meal or tending to her garden, Carolyn was happiest when surrounded by family and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home in Newark, Ohio, on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at 1:00 pm., with Pastor Mark Dettmer as officiant. Friends and family are invited to attend the visitation at the same location, 179 Granville Street, Newark, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Monday, and again on Tuesday from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m., prior to the service.
