Carol May Kemery

Carol May Kemery, age 87, of Newark, passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at Arlington Care Center. She was born August 6, 1938 in Sunbury, Pennsylvania, to the late Elmer and Ada (Snyder) Gass.

Carol was a 1956 graduate of Sunbury High School where she was a cheerleader for four years. She worked at and was a buyer for Bowman's Department Store in Sunbury, PA  and later was a proofreader for the Ace News in Heath for many years. She was a member of the Second Church of Christ, loved to sing, and was a member of Vintage Voices. She was an avid fan of the OSU Buckeyes and the Pittsburgh Steelers and loved watching them play football. She also enjoyed puzzles, crocheting, baking, watching Dancing With the Stars, and most of all spending time with her family.

She is survived by her son, Darren Kemery (Lisa Smart) of Newark; daughter, Tammy (Skip) Hepner of Heath; granddaughters, Carlee Kemery, Haylee Hepner, and Danielle (Mark) Banks; great-granddaughters, Mya Banks and Luca Banks; a sister, Karen Miller of Sunbury, Pennsylvania; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Joy.

A celebration of Carol's life will be held at a later date by her family.
