It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Carl Michael Bolen on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at the age of 62. A resident of Lancaster, Ohio, Carl was born in Columbus, Ohio, on August 21, 1963 to the late Carl Lloyd and Freda (Rush) Bolen.
Carl dedicated much of his life to his craft as a skilled carpet installer with South's Flooring. A man of diverse interests, Carl had a profound love for fishing the tranquil waters, working on older cars, and laying carpet, a testament to the dedication he had for his profession. He was an avid fan of classic westerns. His faith was an integral part of his life; he found peace and wisdom in his repeated readings of the Bible, having read it cover to cover three times and working on his fourth. He was a member of the New Beginnings Apostolic Church.
Carl is survived by his sisters, Penny (Terry) Starkey and Kim (Brent) Miller, as well as his sister-in-law, Jenny Messer Bolen. He shared a unique bond with Raelyn and Kody South, who were like children to him. Carl also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, William H. Bolen, David Bolen, Lowanna Persinger, Suzanna Shook, Nancy Curnell and Pam Sanders.
Family and friends may gather on Thursday, February 26, 2026 at the Kirkersville chapel of Hoskinson Funeral & Cremation Service, 285 E. Main St., Kirkersville, Ohio, from 11:00am until the time of the funeral service at 1:00pm. Burial to follow in Union Evangelical Cemetery, Baltimore, Ohio.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to FairHope Hospice in Carl’s memory. Their support was invaluable during his final days and meant a great deal to Carl and his family. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service is honored to care for Carl and his family in this difficult time.
