Brent R. Emmert, fondly known as “Papal”, age 63, of Thornville, passed away at his home on Monday, December 8, 2025. He was born on September 25, 1962 in Zanesville, Ohio to the late Leo and Patricia (Hill) Emmert.
Brent graduated in 1980 from the Mid-East Career Center in the automotive program. He started running a bulldozer at a young age for his father’s business. Brent worked for the Fairfield County Engineers and at the Hebron Kroger, where he would continue to work a few days a week after his retirement.
Brent was married for almost 32 years to his wife and best friend, Lynette (Stalter) Emmert. He was a devoted father of two, Kennedy Emmert and Preston (Deziree) Emmert. He was a wonderful father who enjoyed showing his love by helping them with things around the house or working on their vehicles. He would drop everything and go and help them. But his life revolved around his grandchildren, Rayven, Jax, Faith, and Luna. He enjoyed playing ball with them in the backyard, taking walks, and laying on the floor watching them play.
Brent was an honorary member of the Somerset Fire Department for 12 years of service. He was a core member at The Tree Church in Lancaster where he served on the children’s check-in team. He was a part of the Mens and Couples Connect groups.
Brent was a man of steadfast faith, who loved digging into the Word, challenging himself, and growing his relationship with God. Brent was a simple man of few words, but when he spoke, he spoke with wisdom. Brent was a hard worker who enjoyed working and running equipment. He led his life by the motto, “If you’re going to do something, do it right the first time.” He loved mowing his lawn and the lines had to be just right. He was a patient and kind perfectionist.
Brent leaves behind many family members and friends who loved him immensely. He will be truly missed!
