A funeral service celebrating the life of Bonnie Jean Dyar, age 86, of Heath, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 25, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home with Pastor Wes Humble officiating. Burial will take place in Newark Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, September 24, at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street in Newark.
Bonnie was born April 17, 1939 in Newark, Ohio. She passed away on Saturday, September 20, 2025 (her wedding anniversary) at the Selma Markowitz Care Center (operated by Hospice of Central Ohio).
Bonnie was a homemaker who loved cooking, and spending time outdoors tending to her flowers and vegetable garden. She also enjoyed going to the casino and playing the slot machines. Her family meant the world to her and she loved spending time with them.
She is survived by her children, Walter “Oak” (Penny) Balo of Newark and Connie McDaniel of Heath; brother, Herb (Carolyn) Bayles; nine grandchildren as well as many great and great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Patrick Dyar; father, Lester Jacob Ridenour; mother, Frances Louise (Hupp) Bayles; sons, Kelvin Boyer and Charles “Sonny” Donahue; brothers, Richard Ridenour and Raymond Ridenour; granddaughter, Kindra Balo; and great-grandsons, Koltan McDaniel and Keegan McDaniel.
