A funeral service celebrating the life of Betty E. Thompson, age 96, formerly of Rocky Fork, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Rocky Fork Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. on Monday, March 2, at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street in Newark.

Betty was born October 15, 1929 in Fallsburg, Ohio to the late Lester and Mabel (Davis) Clark. She passed away on Monday, February 23, 2026 at Altercare of Thornville.

During her lifetime, Betty was industrious and dedicated, working in various roles including as a clerk at Sea-Way in Newark, as well as many other retail stores, Essex Wire, and ultimately retiring from Diebold.

Betty attended the Fallsburg Church of Christ. Betty’s days were filled with a variety of interests and hobbies. She collected and had an impressive talent for restoring antiques and jewelry. She enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable gardens and raised raspberries. An avid sports fan, Betty enjoyed watching all sports, especially NASCAR, and enjoyed playing baseball. An excellent cook, Betty was especially known for her homemade noodles, pies, and potato salad. Alongside her husband, she operated the Pine Bluff Inn in Fallsburg for many years, creating a warm and welcoming environment for all who visited.

She is survived by two daughters, Darla (Michael) Walker and Lou Berens; grandchildren, Lori (Richard) Junkins, Stephanie (Andrew) Baker, Jeremy Berens, Camieo (Bryan) Adams, and Brian Walker; 11 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Emilee Clark, Janelle Clark, and Shirley Clark; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 76 years, Ray Thompson, whom she married on October 24, 1947 and who passed away on November 16, 2023; and by siblings, Norma Davison, Thelma Mills, Lewis Allen Clark, Duane Clark, Bernard Clark, and Jack Clark; sister-in-law, Carolyn Clark; and brothers-in-law, Earl, Guy, Walter, and Wilbur Thompson.

Memorial contributions may be made to Absolute Hospice.
