Barry Lee Harkness

Barry Lee Harkness, 82, of Hebron, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2026 in Newark, Ohio. He was born on May 7, 1944, in Zanesville, Ohio, to the late Norval and Florence (Dickey) Harkness.

Barry was a graduate of Hopewell High School, Class of 1962, and went on to further his education at barber school, a decision that paved the way for his lifelong career as a barber. Barry's greatest joy came from vacations with Jane and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Jane Harkness; children, Brian (Melissa) Harkness and Michelle (Beth DeConnick) Harkness; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and siblings, Dean (Ruth) Harkness, Carol (Steve) Swihart, Regina (Bill) Sellers, and Marsha Ricer.

Family and friends may call on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at the Hebron New Life Church, 925 W Main St, Hebron, OH 43025, from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. A funeral service will be held at the church on Friday, July 31, 2026, at 11:00am with Pastor Brian Harkness officiating. Burial will follow in the Poplar Fork Cemetery, Gratiot, Ohio.

In memory of Barry, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Nationwide Children's Hospital Foundation, P.O. Box 773464, Detroit, MI 48277-3464. Envelopes will be available at the church.
