Anita Elizabeth Turnbaugh, a beloved resident of Newark, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 20th, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on Thursday, February 6th, 1941, Anita touched the lives of everyone she met with her gentle spirit and loving heart.
Anita was a devoted grandmother to her grandchildren, Joseph Donald (Belinda) Green, Steven Kyle (Billie) Green, Natoshia "Nikki" Green, and Neva Hardway. She cherished her role as the matriarch of a large and loving family, including numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a wealth of friends.
She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Hedwig Kempf, her husband Donald Lee Turnbaugh, her daughter Anke Hardway, her sisters Segrid and Erica; and grandson-in-law, Tyrone Conner. Despite these losses, Anita persevered with strength and grace, finding solace in her family and her many passions.
In her professional life, Anita was renowned as a Master Donut Maker, dedicating 40 years of service to Jolly Pirate Donuts in Reynoldsburg, Ohio. Her donuts were legendary, bringing joy and smiles to all who tasted them.
Anita had a profound love for simple pleasures, such as gardening, painting, crocheting, and collecting ducks. Watching murder mysteries was another pastime she thoroughly enjoyed. Her home was a testament to her passions, filled with her beautiful creations and an impressive collection of ducks.
In lieu of flowers, Anita requested that those who wish to honor her memory make donations to Hospice of Central Ohio, an organization that provided her with comfort and care in her final days.
Arrangements for Anita Elizabeth Turnbaugh have been entrusted to Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral & Cremation Service in Newark. Her family wishes to express their gratitude for the support and love from all who knew her.
