Allen "Scott" Roberts

A funeral service celebrating the life of Allen Scott Roberts, 54, of Thornville, will be held on Monday, April 9, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the Thornville home of Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service, with Pastor Keith Sjostrand officiating. Burial will follow at Lutheran Reformed Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home, 56 S. Main Street, Thornville, on Sunday, April 8, 2018 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and on Monday, two hours prior to the funeral service, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Scott was a life-long resident of Thornville. He died unexpectedly at his home on April 5, 2018. He was born in Columbus to the late Donald Ray Roberts and Jeanine Marie (Harshbarger) Roberts of Thornville. Scott graduated from Sheridan High School and immediately went to work with his father to build a business, and build they did. Roberts Greenhouse has been a part of this community since 1983 and has touched thousands of lives. Scott, like his father, loved to make things grow, and every spring he would fill our world with vibrant colors and beauty. He was always willing to talk to customers, give them tips on how to care for their flowers or suggested what would work well in the shade or full sun. Whatever their situation, Scott took the time to care about each one of them. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his brothers, Mark Roberts of Thornville and Don (Debbie) Roberts of Virginia Beach; sisters, Pamela (Carl Landis) Roberts of Newark and Sarah (Jason) Huffman of Thornville; his godson and namesake, Scott A. Painter, stationed at Fort Bragg, NC; several nieces, nephews and many close friends. Scott was a devoted son, brother, godfather, uncle and friend, and he proudly served the Thornville community for 35 years. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
