A funeral service, celebrating the life of Charles D. Jones, 93, of Newark, formerly of Harbor Hills, will be held on Wednesday, February 3 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of The Hoskinson Funeral Home, Kirkersville, with Pastor Steve Brown as celebrant. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery near Jacksontown.
Charles died suddenly Friday afternoon, January 29, 2010 in Newark. He was born August 7, 1916 in Athens, Ohio. The son of “Harry” and Myrtle Jones. He was co-founder and president of Structurlite, Inc in Hebron, and was a former member of the Hebron United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge Hebron #116 as well as the Harbor Hills Country Club, Moundbuilders Country Club and past president of the International Society of Plastics Industries. He enjoyed traveling and loved to fish. He had resided in Naples, Florida for many years following retirement. While retired, he volunteered with the Senior Corps of Retired Executives.
He is survived by his loving family which includes his children: Barbara Hupp of Thornville, Charles (Martha) Jones of Lexington, KY., William (Jane) Hebron, David (Linda) of Columbus, Ann (Chris) Swisher of Bloomington, IL., and Katherine (Roderick) Wells of Jacksonville, FL., his sister J. Marjorie Jones of New York City; his 14 grandchildren and his 13 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine W. Jones on June 8, 2009; his brother Nelson and two sisters Helen Griffith and Janice Stebelski.
His family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 2nd from 2- 4 p.m. and 6 - 8 p.m. at the Funeral Home, 285 E. Main St in Kirkersville, where an on-line guest register and memorial are available at www.hoskinsonfuneral.com.
